The story involves the character Piggy, who picks up his girlfriend and takes her to a theater where a hot jazz orchestra is playing. Piggy mocks the trumpet soloist, and plays a corny chorus of the 1873 hit "Silver Threads Among the Gold" on the saxophone. The audience, led by three drunk dogs in the balcony, then mock Piggy with the title song "You Don't Know What You're Doin'". Piggy is then joined onstage by one of the drunk dogs (a black dog, perhaps a prototype of Goopy Geer). Piggy picks up their bottle of bootleg hootch (the film was made during alcohol Prohibition in the USA), takes a swig, and starts having hallucinations; he pours some booze into the radiator of his automobile, which arches its back like a frightened cat and takes Piggy for a wild ride through the city.

Bosko and his fellow infantrymen are hardly safe in their trench. Bosko is happily eating from a pan full of beans when a bomb hits the pan and destroys his meal. Bosko misses Honey, he pulls out her picture and kisses it. A cannonball tears through it, making her head a gaping hole, now Bosko is angry. He vows revenge but the moment his helmet appears above the trench it's hit with dozens of bullets knocking him back down. Another soldier briefly cheers him up with harmonica music. Bosko gets his chance to be a hero when his buddy swallows a cannonball.

Little Roger loves aeroplanes. He goes to the airport to watch take offs and landings. One day he sees "a very special plane" that glows and gives Roger pinwheel eyes. He's in love! When Roger wishes he had wings, they pop into being on his back! But they are too small to really work, so he goes in tears back to that special plane, which now can talk! It tells him the wings are wings of imagination, so he imagines himself doing all sorts of wonderful things in planes and helicopters. Roger clasps his hands together in an effeminate way frequently, but the main point is that air travel is changing everything about modern life for the better.
