Flip the Frog is a happy blacksmith who makes horseshoes. A cat is riding by in a horse and carriage when her horse loses a shoe. She takes her horse to Flip to have the shoe repaired, but problems arise when the horse is spooked by a mosquito and runs away with the cat still in the carriage. Flip must stop the runaway horse before it and its owner are both thrown from a cliff. (imdb)

This short begins with Bosko cooking an egg over an open fire, while singing. He regularly flips the egg into the air, drawing it to the attention of a squirrel, which then eats Bosko's meal. Bosko pulls a shotgun from off-screen and starts after the squirrel (leaving the campfire burning). While chasing the squirrel, he and Bruno see an ad for a dog race, with a prize of $5,000 and Bosko tells Bruno he's going to enter and win. Bruno seems doubtful and is markedly unenthusiastic at his prospects. (imdb)

Bosko joins a wacky fox hunt. One of the hunters is an elephant, who is riding on a horse to be pitied. One of the hounds is a dachshund. Bosko's own horse must be made to swallow a log in order to keep his midsection from drooping to the ground. Meanwhile, the fox is utterly unconcerned. He lopes along, crossing the pond by stepping on the stones, and then using the floating logs as rafts. Eventually, Bosko's horse abandons his owner; but an overly friendly hound steps in to bring Bosko to his quarry. Both of them find more than they bargained for. (imdb)

Porky finds out that Ali-Baba and his Dirty Sleeves plan to attack the fort; it's up to him to go warn the fort. He gets there to discover everyone has left for the Legion convention in Boston. Porky and his rented camel fend off the attackers themselves for a while, but when the situation gets dire, the young camel summons its mother. Momma takes care of the attacker that's menacing them. The secret weapon, who has been sitting on the bench with an artillery shell strapped to his head, now comes in, but runs right through the fort and into Ali-Baba. (imdb)

Bosko ice skates on a frozen pond, while his dog Bruno chases behind him, barking happily. Bruno accidentally falls through the ice. The canny canine allows Bosko to think he has drowned before finally popping out of a hollow tree and barking out a greeting. Bosko is momentarily angry, but quickly forgives him. The fun ends when the two of them discover a baby abandoned in the snow. Bosko takes the infant to his cabin. The unlovable bundle does nothing but bawl and bawl, and finally infuriates Bruno when it declares its reason: it's crying for the Carolines. Undaunted, Bosko finally finds a way to make the crying baby laugh--but not without a near-drowning of his own. (imdb)

Bosko is working in his store and virtually all of his movements are in time to music. He actually dances through much of the short. The cartoon essentially is in two halves-before the advent of Wilber and after him. The short has some funny gags after Wilber comes in, but the most enjoyable part is before his appearance. (imdb)
